Friends of Mendip School PTA (FOMS)
We are a registered charity supporting the work of the school, reg charity no. 119007, we formed as an independent Charity in June 2020 in order to support the fundraising appeals at the School. We have been running since 2017 as a registered PTA under the umbrella National PTA Charity
We welcome all parents, carers, teachers and friends of the school to help fundraise and support the work of the school. All parents and carers, as well as staff are automatically members of FOMS.
As parents and friends of the school many of us share similar challenges and the PTA activities and fundraisers are a chance to make connections and feel more involved in the school.
FOMS has recently supported the creation of a petting area, sensory room and is currently fundraising to build a community swimming pool on site at the school.
Membership
As a parent/carer of children at the school you are automatically included in our membership so please feel welcome to come along to meetings and events.
If you are unable to make it to meetings, but have any ideas you would like to contribute, please send an email to us on mendipschoolpta@gmail.com
Trustees
The Charity is overseen by four Trustees who are all parents and carers at the School:
Kate Smedley, Rebecca Allen, Rhiannon Gogh and Sarah Szewiel
Fundraising
The charity is supported by the school fundraiser, Lucy Beattie who is always available to support any ideas for fundraising, applications to trust and grant making bodies and help organise events. How you can support us-:
Amazon Smile
https://smile.amazon.co.uk/ch/1190007-0
You can set up your own fundraising page or make a donation to us
It doesn’t cost you a penny extra.
When you shop the easyfundraising way with one of our 3,085 shops and sites they give us a commission for your purchase. We turn that into a donation and give it to your good cause.
We want to help promote the reuse of clothes & shoes to benefit those who rely on 2nd hand clothes as their sole option for good quality clothing. Together we can build a sustainable future by using our resources to further the circular economy.
Donation bags will be sent to homes in the near future.
FOMS PTA continue to support the school by raising donations through Just Giving. If you would like to support us in this, please click on the Just Giving logo.
Stikins are name labels that simply stick in and stay, no sewing or ironing needed. Use them on clothes, shoes, lunch boxes, water bottles, bags, stationery and other equipment. The Mendip School will earn commission on every order. Please click on the Stickins logo to buy.
Keeping up to date-:
We also have a Friends of the Mendip School Facebook page where you can keep up to date with the latest news and events from FOMS.

The Swimming Pool Appeal
When The Mendip School was built in 2015, there was no funding in place to include a swimming pool. We now have in place planning permission and are launching an appeal to raise £1.1 million to construct a pool. We are over half way there thanks to generous donations and fundraisers!
For pupils attending our school, swimming is an essential skill for increasing confidence and familiarity with community facilities. It encourages access a wider range of activities and venues throughout students’ lives, along with providing lifelong health, wellbeing and personal safety skills.
Thank you to all those who have purchased a tile or taken part in a sponsored event so far, please contact Lucy Beattie if you would like to support us in any way. lbeattie@themendipschool.com.
Thank you!
Our work would not be possible without your support and help, so thank you!
Come back and visit again soon to see updated thanks!
