Apple Class
Apple Class is primarily our Reception aged class here at The Mendip School, aged between 4-5years.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS), with our Prime Areas of Learning being; Communication & Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development and Physical Development. In Apple Class we are ‘learning to learn’ and we have a heavy focus on following routines, building up skills to aid our listening and attention and learning ways to aid our communication with others.
We like singing, music, sensory play, getting out and about and generally exploring all of our areas of learning through a play-based approach. We also work closely with our Therapy Team and love our weekly Occupational Therapy (OT) and Speech & Language (S&L) sessions.

Hi, I’m Helen. I live in Wells with my husband and my 2 dogs. I have 3 grown up children. 1 is married and the other 2 are at university. I used to work as a children’s nurse and then a health visitor. Now I volunteer as an Emergency Responder with St John Ambulance, so I go to lots of local events to provide first aid. I like reading and crochet, and I love wearing dungarees!
