Functional SkillsEmployability
Post 16 students not gaining grade 4 or above passes in GCSE English & Maths are required to work towards Functional Skills qualifications in Post 16.
Functional Skills qualifications are designed to enable student to develop confidence and fluency in the subjects. Gaining these qualifications will also equip students with the practical skills to get the most out of their education, work and everyday life.

Framework (QCF)
Level 1 FS are equivalent to a GCSE Grade 1- 3,
&
Level 2 FS are equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 - 5
In addition to Functional Skills, students who managed a Grade 3 in their English or Mathematics GCSE exams, will also have the opportunity to re-sit their GCSE’s in November
As well as working on their core subjects, students are also asked to work towards achieving an Entry Level 3 or Level 1/2 ASDAN qualification in Employability qualification.
The ASDAN Certificates are designed to help learners develop the skills needed to become successful employees and through careful design and planning will support them in overcoming barriers to entering work.
