TMS Bags another sports award!

The Mendip School go from a Bronze to a Silver School Games Award
We are delighted to announce that we, The Mendip School, have achieved the School Games Silver Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Some of sporting achievements this year include:
A new Inclusive Playground and app to encourage daily physical activity,
Specialist group coaching sessions in Table Cricket, Fishing and Golf
Whole School Activity Days in Tightrope Walking, Roller Skating and Running
Primary Caving Days
Lunchtime and After School Sports Clubs
Staff training in Primary PE, Swimming and Cricket 16
Competitive Intra and Inter School Opportunities for all age groups across a range of sports
Links with five local clubs and external providers
Sports Leadership opportunities for students
Whole School Family Fun Day
With a total of 43 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
A special thanks to: Jake Godfrey and Green Class for writing sports blogs for The School Games website over the last year
We look forward to applying again in 2019.

Roller Disco at TMS!

On the last day of Term 4, TMS pupils got the opportunity to take part in a roller disco thanks to Shepton Get Your Skates On.  Have a look at some of our pictures below!

The Bullzini Family come to TMS!

The Fabulous Bullzini family spent two days with pupils from The Mendip School to help them complete a tightrope walking workshop.  Pupils from all classes in the school took part and everyone had a lot of fun.  It was great to see all pupils supporting each other and cheering each other on.  Below are some photos of the activities.

Thankyou to the Bullzini Family for supporting our children.  If you would like to find out more about them, click on their webpage link here.

TMS Do Boccia!

A massive well done to yellow class who took part in an inter schools Boccia tournament against Shapwick and Critchill schools last week.  Looks like everyone had fun!!

The Mendip School Sports Day

We had a fantastic whole school sports day today where students, staff and families all joined in activities before relaxing with a picnic lunch. The activities were run by Bath Rugby Foundation, Yeovil Town Community Football, Fishing 4 Schools, Shepton Mallet Tennis Club and ‘Wheels for All’ Cycling Projects. A big well done and thank you to everyone who participated in and supported the event.

3MG take on Bath Rugby!

3MG had a fantastic time at the Bath Rugby Summer Scrum. The coaches and volunteers ensured that everyone enjoyed themselves and participated in passing, kicking, agility, tackling and tag activities. All students were given T Shirts, certificates and photos of Bath Rugby players as souvenirs of the day. They even met eight first team players for autographs!!

Well done to everyone involved!

3MG go Camping

The Mendip School have gone camping mad this week. Classes have been testing out the new tents in the hall in appalling conditions! 3MG had to cope with some torrential downpours with thunder and lightning but luckily managed to stay dry. We will be practicing camping skills during PE lessons this term as part of an ‘Outdoor and Adventurous’ programme of activities.
