Twenty-four young anglers from across the UK were recognised at the House of Commons yesterday (15 November) in the Fishing for Schools Champions Awards.
Of those twenty-four, two were from our school. Jack Care-Slade and Natasha Harris, both from Pink class.
Fishing for Schools is an initiative run by The Countryside Alliance Foundation, the charitable arm of the Countryside Alliance. It provides short angling courses to schools across the country, to aid the education of 12 to 18-year-olds who may not respond to traditional classroom-based learning but flourish when you get them outside onto the water. It celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.

The Mendip School are actively seeking teaching and teaching assistant supply staff for our rapidly expanding school.
If you are interested in being put on our supply list please email the school office address with details of your experience. A meeting will then be arranged with the Head of School, Natalie Hanna. We are ideally looking for people who are flexible and able to cover from 8.40am to 3.15pm and who preferably could come in to cover sickness if called from 8am. It would be very useful when a time is arranged to meet the Head of School if the appropriate application pack (below) is completed and brought with you along with the DBS evidence described as this would speed up the turn around time for clearing a person to join our supply list considerably. If you are willing to do cover for both Teacher and TA please indicate this on your form.
Please note, we cannot guarantee a set amount of cover per week, although in general those on the supply list have been utilised on a regular basis. We require the minimum qualifications of 3 GCSE’s of A-C grades, 2 of which are English or Maths for supply applications. If you do not have these qualifications, we will be unable to process your request.
Vacancies across the Partnership Trust can be found here.
A massive thank you to Carly for organising this years residential and to all the staff that supported this. The children have had a wonderful time and we all enjoyed the weather during the night!!
Below are a selection of photos from the last few days.
We had a fantastic whole school sports day today where students, staff and families all joined in activities before relaxing with a picnic lunch. The activities were run by Bath Rugby Foundation, Yeovil Town Community Football, Fishing 4 Schools, Shepton Mallet Tennis Club and ‘Wheels for All’ Cycling Projects. A big well done and thank you to everyone who participated in and supported the event.
3MG had a fantastic time at the Bath Rugby Summer Scrum. The coaches and volunteers ensured that everyone enjoyed themselves and participated in passing, kicking, agility, tackling and tag activities. All students were given T Shirts, certificates and photos of Bath Rugby players as souvenirs of the day. They even met eight first team players for autographs!!
Well done to everyone involved!
